Okay, maybe more like 40 lines instead, but hey, consider this my shared thoughts in my own personal "garden of Gesthemany." (Ya know, when Jesus wept blood and all?) Sometimes... you just gotta look into the abyss check out what stares back at ya, and say, "What up?"

While I have been notably absent from GiAMind for a bit, I am still here.
The whole tribe appearance conflict thing put me off for a while, and I just never got re-inspired to return. WHile I am still steadily channeling Ancient Herstory, no one seems really interested anyway.
I feel sad about this.

I find that I am becoming less and less able to maintain a semblance of a "normal functioning human," ... whatever that is.
Why? I wonder.

Basically it is harder and harder to feed, house, and clothe myself, although I will always keep feeding my dog...
and believe it or not, now also a cat... interesting dynamic between them, but the kitten seems fearless!

(long story, but this re-incarnated kitten Shamballah, followed me and Wally home one day while on a walk. How do you deny fate? What else could I do?)

It seems I must almost "enslave" myself just to exist!
I keep clutching at straws that have no substance, yet when I cling to substance that fills my heart, I find that I am left with nothing that anyone else seems to care about...
or wants to hear...
or wishes to see...

Well, some of you do, but your not here... with me... so where is the one for me?
I feel I am becoming more and more isolated and feeling alone and ....
yes, lonely.

I wonder...
"Do we know when it is our time to become extinct?" Or do our lives just slowly come unraveled as we find we have no more place in the world to be?

The world I dreamed of is emerging...
the patterns I felt, are more present...
and the world is descending into...
I don't know what...
but it feels cold...
and empty...
and desperate...

and all at once like a vast sea of impersonal and shallow lifestyles with only a few islands of shining beings of love and light floating here and there...
Beings whose joy radiates like lightning- bugs in the dark; sometimes bright, sometimes subtle, but always there.

I have dwelled upon these islands now and then, but I have yet to find that place that is my "Home."
Or that one that is my "other, my self."
And no place yet that I seem able to at least just "maintain."

ANd as I struggle like a frantic lunatic sometimes to make sense of it all, and try to "keep up," I hang onto a few outlets of creativity as a lifeline to my sanity.

But is it working?

I no longer have the answer for that.

I watch those in the world of the "matrix" as they slowly try to grasp the magnitude of our species' suicidal tendencies, and I hope they finally "get it" before it's too late, but I still wonder...
There are so many who seems to loudly deny and willfully not accept the facts and truth.
What madness is this?

How is such callousness and indifference to suffering maintained by so many, unless, they have forgotten how to feel?
or never could?
Is this the world I was born into?

For I know, to hear the suffering of a single child moves my heart to seek a cure, yet so many now are crying, and suffering, and dying, and still the charade goes on.

Many do care.
The islands of those who share the love of each other's hopes and dreams, of which tribe is one of them, certainly rally and demonstrate, and organize to reclaim the earth, and the spirit of love and joy.

Have I been "island hopping" for so long, that I have forgotten how to be still?
Do I no longer recognize what is solid ground and what is but illusion?

If GiAMind is but surrender to the Infinite, to that which is greater than the sum of all the parts...
then perhaps that time has come for me to do just that and nothing more.
Final surrender...
Come what may...

I find the struggle to exist in this world to be in direct confrontation with me having an open heart. Strange as that seems, the world I am experiencing does not seem to reward me for my sensitivity, or my concern, or the gentle moments.
And without that... well,
It just doesn't seem real.. or valid... and not much fun anymore.
Worth living?

Just to be able to breathe clean air, or drink living water is a standard quickly vanishing for me, and again, hard to maintain.
Food is anything but pure, and I drink clay regularly just to filter out the steady flow of poisons, and toxins that I know I take in.
Is this the life I must accept?

May I too feel overwhelmed?
Can one who has the visions of paradise lost, not long for that paradise that seems forever to be lost.. or may never be known in my lifetime?

When will the story in my mind, find the path to be seen and heard, and remembered?
And in some long tomorrow, finally awakened?

Am I gasping in a sea of sorrow and self inflicted pain?
Is the world a darker place or am I only seeing what I could not see before?

Or have I just forgotten that the gaze of a true lover is the simple cure that turns a world of demons and dragons into Heaven's gate?

A Tropical Rain Forest Event

Accepting higher mind

I have found that the giamind ethos is an ever changing fluid concept. How could it be otherwise? The CHakra tree will most likely not happen as planned, as we have recieved no funding. THe yoga, on the other hand, has proven to be powerfully phenomenal! I am organizing it into a completely new yoga system that kicks ass and really does give a "blast-o-bliss!
Also working on a superhero character at the moment. This seem to be what the whole giamind is leading me to do.... more on that later.
For now, I would ask a question:
How has the collective or synchronicitous mind manifested for you lately? Which direction is it/she guiding you?

Chakra Wishing Tree: GREETINGS BURNING MAN STAFF

Greetings Burning Man staff,
My name is Elonifer Skyhawk.
I am a multi-media performing artist and have been doing ritual theater for almost 15 years now. I have participated in many Burns, and in many operas. Most recently I worked closely with Pepe Ozan in constructing, sculpting, and assembling the "Dreamer" in 2005.

I am now seeking assistance and funding for a phenomenal concept, and I think a very inspiring endeavor. My latest project is to construct a re-usable, metal fire-art sculpture to be unveiled at the Joshua Tree Music Festival, then local or regional community functions, and on to Black Rock City, Nevada. It will stand 7' diameter x 11' height, initially and then after burning, it will open, and expand, metamorphosing into an 11' diameter x 7' high chakra, and revealing a transformed segmented, pop-up "butterfly-chakra-man" center piece. It will be the first of a seven year series of sculptures. This event is held annually in Joshua Tree, CA, the weekend after Mother's Day, which this year will be from May 19th through May 21st, 2006.

This "Chakra Wishing Tree", will be an interactive, portable, re-usable fire-art sculpture.
As a community symbol (Yantra), it will function as many things to many people. It can be a temple for quiet meditation, a gathering and healing center for individuals or groups, and a sacred space for personal transformation, while still functioning as art.

This sculpture raises the issue of accepting responsibility for our personal evolution by maximizing our human potential. It inspires awareness of social inter-relationships between the individual, the community, and our moral responsibility as planetary stewards.

During the event, anyone may process and let go of FEARS, and share their HOPES for the future collectively or privately. We will do this as a community through performance, shared participation in yoga workshops and meditations, and individually by writing our "wishes" on a leaf, branch or root to be added to the tree and burned in a final closing ceremony.

The Chakra Wishing Tree's multi-use design will:

a.)
Allow participants to share ideas as we "build" the Chakra Wishing Tree by adding roots and branches which we adorn with ribbons, engrave, or otherwise inscribe with our HOPES and FEARS, and wishes for the future.

b.)
By attaching an engraved or decorated root or branch during the course of the event, the community will witness the tree "grow" through direct personal involvement.
Private thoughts, in the form of notes, or "leaves," may be placed inside the body of the closed lotus petals. (To avoid MOOP and flying ashes.) Purged in fire, these petals will open at the end of the burn and reveal a new Yantra inside the lotus blossom. This will be a transformed, segmented, "pop-up" chakra-"butterfly-man" composed of segments of hollow metal decorated with glass, connected and held together with spring loaded steel cable. If all goes well, it will also act as a weathervane.

This ritual visualization of the "transformation" of our unknown FEAR into realized HOPE, is a symbolic invocation that inspires us to take action in our own lives and apply the philosophy behind Mahatma Gandhi's words: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

For many artists, this would sum up a challenging and complete project with a visible climax and a peak experience. In striving to expand the concept of multimedia, I like to make any production more than just a multi-sensory experience by engaging in exploration of the profound to discover the sublime.
With this in mind, the Chakra Wishing Tree and the Labyrinth surrounding it (as drawn or marked in the earth by Cinnamon Twist,) will provide a stage and daily gathering area for meditation and yogic practice. This encourages participants to not only visualize the chakra system within the body, but to experience it and share this experience through a whole new level of community and social inter-activity.

After all, why settle for just understanding that we have electro-magnetic "wheels of energy" that some call chakras, when we can actually have a shared experience of this circulating life force vibrating within each of us?

While modern science may marvel at and question what magnetic resonant imaging machines (MRE’s) now document as the aura or chakra centers, experience is a much more engaging teacher.
These chakras, which move Prana, Chi, Ki, or Kundalini energy, to name a few modalities’ terminology, become validated only when we as individuals have a real life experience of them. It is exactly this that I hope to facilitate. Through a simple demonstration, explanation and a practical exercise, I have created Chakra Tree Yoga™specifically for this purpose.

Through play, and performance, with a focus on non-violent communication, (a requirement for the healing of the lower and activation of the higher chakras,) I will facilitate daily workshops to help each individual attain his or her highest potential.

Chakra Tree Yoga™ is a synthesis of the knowledge of chakras, energy wheels, shamanic drumming, ecstatic dance, labyrinth meditations, and Tree of Life paths. I have compiled it from the traditions and practices of Tibetan, Hindu, Mongolian, Chinese, Haitian, Native American, African, Mayan, Hebrew, Gnostic, Druid, Psycho- Acoustics, Linguistics, and Quantum mysteries.

And, if I may go further, if that is possible, on a grander scale, I seek to galvanize the increasing awareness of the earth's "biological clock" by synchronizing the Chakra Wishing Tree with the Mayan calendar.
In a steady effort to foster Hope for the future, rather than despair for the state of the world, for the past two years now, I have aligned my productions with this “natural” time, to build momentum for a global awareness of what some scholars call a paradigm "shift" that may, or may not occur in 2012.

Some refer to this Mayan date as the End of the World, but in actuality, the Maya refer to it as the "End of Time,"
And herein I feel is an important difference which I use to inspire Hope, rather than Fear for the future of humanity.
Regardless of any "doom and gloom" scenarios predicted for the earth, I prefer to focus on what kind of world we envision Beyond the End of Time.

Therefore, I have agreed to construct a new Chakra Wishing Tree for each chakra, for each year, over the next 7 years as a ceremonial and ritual performance countdown Beyond the End of Time.
I feel strongly that this re-occurring event focusing on the human potential through novel community interaction, is the surest way of bringing a Global and Individual Awareness to every Mind. Maybe then we will have a better chance of getting along in peace. To bridge the gap between the individual and the global community through art, is the function of the GIAMIND.

By moving from thoughts and ideas into actions and experiences, I sincerely feel that only wonderful amazing things will come out of this project.

At a cost of roughly $3500.00 to complete and get the Tree to the playa, this is only the first part of a seven-year undertaking.

I have been offered a warehouse location in Glendale, CA for constructing the tree and possibly host fundraising events. Topanga Canyon is another option as they have ample space to build, but they are isolated in the woods and I am relying on public transport at the moment. I have recently re-located to Van Nuys, CA and I am giving private instruction in Chakra Tree Yoga. I have plans to expand the classes to downtown LA and I will include workshops in Non-Violent Communication there as well. The Hope Village community, associated with the Evolver project have been very encouraging and supportive as are the Toy Factory folks connected through the Sugar Shack.

Chakra Wishing Tree: BURN

Burning the Chakra Wishing Tree:

* I will assign a fire marshal for the burn and detail his/her duties.
* I will have a minimum of 4 active clean up personnel with tools!
* I will have minimum of 4 acting as fire safety.
* We will pack out everything we bring in that does not burn.
* I will do my best to protect the playa from a burn scar.

1. A labyrinth will be traced around the sculpture on the playa if allowed. If not we will mark the labyrinth with flag markers (our own) and neon string. At a 33’ diameter (16’ radius) from the center, more than double the length of the petals, it will represent the “strike” zone of any stray branch that may fall. I think a 25’ safety zone will be adequate for this burn. I will have my Fire Marshall be sure and get specs from Crimson Rose on required safety.

2. We would like to have daily Chakra Tree Yoga™ classes near or around the art. These classes are also performance rehearsals for the ceremonial burning. I have been asked to be a part of Hope Village. If the art is situated near or in front of Hope Village, then we can easily hold rehearsals near the Wishing Tree, and in Hope Village.

3. I would like to have the burn on Saturday night @ Sunset (7:30). The Ceremony will last 11 minutes, 11 seconds. Right after this, the fire will be lit at the end of civil twilight, (approximately 7:56 pm.)
4. The Lotus bloom opens automatically in a shower of sparks when the ropes holding it shut, have burned off. Chakra Butterfly “man” pops up, and is transformed. END OF SHOW. If we can START performance before sunset, then the above can be the schedule.

5. I am aiming for a smaller rather than larger fire. Quick burning with minimal flying ash in case of high winds. I'm planning on collecting branches no longer than 3' feet long and no thicker than 1" inch at the base. Participants are invited to decorate and write or 'etch' their prayers and wishes into them, or attach colored ribbons with prayers on them. Branches and roots are attached to tree by metal pins inserted into pre-drilled holes in the bottom of the branches, which will fit into matching pre-drilled holes throughout the entire frame of the Chakra Wishing Tree. From an information/Legend box placed nearby, note pads in the shape of leaves and other writings can be placed inside the lotus bulb to avoid moop and they will burn up first. I envision the tree to look very much like a weeping willow silhouette with its roots exposed at the time of burn.

6. Small branches and sticks should burn no more than 15-20 minutes at full throttle. Once the ropes that hold the lotus petals closed, burns through, the petals will open from right to left in a shower of sparks and crackling wood. When the final petal falls, the trip wire for the pop-up Chakra Butterfly”man” will engage and he will transform right before your eyes. The surrounding blossom of fire will add a very soft light to such a delicate looking creature. The fire should be just embers within an hour.

7. For safety, some clean up will commence immediately once embers are dying. A crew of 4 will sweep embers onto tarps and beneath petals to allow participants to drift closer to the sculpture in relative safety. We will magnet sweep the area, then the Solar lighting will be replaced around the sculpture first, and the small strand lighting as soon as the metal has relatively cooled. The moon will also be half full and I want the sculpture to “glisten” in the moonlight. Ash pickup begins the next day and the sculpture will remain on display until Monday morning.

8. The performance is a family oriented ritual theater and designed to inspire “transformation” of any FEARS and doubts in our lives into HOPE for the future. For those wanting to participate more directly, I will be hosting daily workshops in Chakra Tree Yoga. I’ve created this yoga specifically to provide a full sensory experience for participants either through private solemn meditative walking of the surrounding labyringh, or with full community interaction in the burn ceremony we will create for the burning and opening of the Chakra Wishing Tree.

Chakra Wishing Tree: SET-UP and CLEAN-UP

Set-up and Clean-up

Set-up:

I am a burner of many years and I will arrive the weekend before opening to assist
with Center Camp set up. The Chakra Wishing Tree will arrive Saturday or Sunday and will take 4 people one full day to assemble completely with lighting… on a good day.
The tree will be ready for inter-action by Monday night/ Tuesday morning.

Clean-up:

1. Tarps will be pre- placed beneath art to minimize burn scarring.
2. I will have a magnetic sweeper and all metal will be removed from the playa.
3. We will bag the ash from the wood the next morning, and take it with us. All wood left unburned will be placed in burn barrels.
4. Crew of 4 will dis-assemble tree and load on truck.
5. After ash is shoveled, tarps will be lifted and playa re-smoothed.
6. All metal will be removed.
7. We will endeavor to leave no trace!

FIREBALL-A short description

Here's the shortest version I have come up with so far to explain the game.

Time to take Fire Dancing to the next level!
ANNOUNCING FIREBALL ! ! !
Combining Fire Dancing and Team Sports in a game most anyone can learn to play with fire.

I have developed a NON-VIOLENT team fire sport. I'm looking for any and all interested parties, supporters, facilitators and of course players and teams to learn to play the game.
And if you wish, to participate in a Tournament of Fire to promote empathy, non-violent communication and fun!. I plan to showcase the sport at Burning Man this year and in the Rose Bowl Stadium in 2006.

COME ON.... WHO WANTS TO BE A PART OF HISTORY??

Come and learn a whole new team sport based on non-violence and cooperation rather than violence and confrontation.

Introducing the game of FIREBALL!

A game of "Catch and Toss" like no other.

The goal is to simulate a volcano by keeping the Fireball aloft and dancing in the air between teams.

OBJECT OF THE GAME:

To play with the Fireball in the most creative, cooperative, and thrilling way without sacrificing safety.... or dropping it!

THE FIREBALL IS A CABBAGE SIZE BALL OF KEVLAR THAT HAS BEEN SOAKED IN ALCOHOL.

Any number or combination of players can practice together,
however;

TWO TEAMS PLAY DURING COMPETITION:

The first team (A) forms an inner circle called THE DEN.

The second team (B) forms THE GUARD- a safety circle that surrounds team (A) to block any stray balls.

TEAMS ARE MADE UP OF 5 PLAYERS EACH:

4 PLAYERS ARE KNIGHTS.

1 PLAYER IS THE DRAGON.

KNIGHTS- EACH GET 2 FIRE wands or "SWORDS,"
which they use to catch and toss the FIREBALL to teammates. (Gloves or fingerless gloves are recommended.)

CONTACT IMPROV-LIKE PASSING
may be used between tosses.

THE 3rd TOSS IS CAREFULLY pitched to the 5th player- The DRAGON.

THE DRAGON USES A SINGLE LONG HEAVY POI (the Dragon's tail) TO "KICK" the Fireball straight up into the air.

TEAMS SWITCH POSITIONS WHILE THE KICK IS IN THE AIR:
Team (A) becomes THE GUARD.
and
Team (B) goes into THE DEN.

The play repeats this way until the Fireball goes out.

SIMPLE SCORING:

Whichever team drops the ball the least- wins!

TEAM SCORING:

Whichever team is the best at tossing, passing, keeping the rhythm, and keeping the Fireball in play and in the Den while playing safe- wins!

TOURNAMENT SCORING:

Three judges are needed for this. Each will watch for different criteria of merit.

Ideally the THREE JUDGES WILL BE:
A GRANDMOTHER, A MOTHER, AND A CHILD.
or RAVEN, HAWK AND DOVE.

The grandmother or RAVEN:
Will judge on SAFETY, SKILL, AND EMPATHIC COOPERATION.

The mother or HAWK:
Will judge on RHYTHM, FLOW, AND GROUP TEAMWORK.

The child or DOVE:
Will judge on WOW! YEA! and WOO-HOO!
(Whoever dazzles her the most.)

(note: Dragon's may use two poi... but it would only get in the way; still, it's a new sport so try what you want.)

I think this would be a great way to introduce an ancient way of playing and communicating that actually teaches empathy.

Practicing Fireball

equipment needed:

A pair of clubs or sticks about 2 feet long.
Diameter is about 1 1/2" to 2".
I prefer wood, but I have been using 2 metal ones which are a little heavier and harder to work with. I broke off a couple of bed posts from a metal bed because they were tapered in just the way I like them!

One slightly deflated volley ball or soccer ball is about the right size.

For solo practice I take a daily 20 minute walk with my dog and catch and toss the ball up into the air as I walk.

I've found that forearm strength is increased and a good feel for catching a ball between two sticks becomes magical after a couple of weeks.
I imagine more athletic and acrobatic individuals will develop moves that are slick and trick for passing between teammates.

For solo work i just sort of spin and toss and leap and catch and marvel each time the ball seems to stick between the swords. It's starting to get really fun!

I've gotten an over and behind the head catch which i imagine would be kinda scary with a ball on fire. Don't know if I want to try that one while lit just yet.

I am also still re-designing the Fireball. I think I need it to be tighter and more spherical. Anybody got this far yet?

Beginning Ancient Herstory

To understand the premise of GIAMIND.... first we must all understand how civilization began. There is only a brief reference to pre-history in this link, but it gives a great breakdown of the vocabulary and original mindset. What is not expressed much yet in articles of the Goddess is how significant it is that WOMEN INVENTED WRITING, MATH, POTTERY, AND CIVILIZATION as we have never known it.... for they lived in PEACE.
But this in simple de-construction of evidence......

GIAMIND Philosophy

Hello all, Interesting process of unfoldment here.
I have yet to specifically define my understanding, but I call myself an Ancient Traditionalist. That usually throws perceptions into a loop!

I follow ancient truisms, maxims, and hermetic laws to arrive at my path. Which in itself would seem a phrase framed in paradox, but again... knowing that we percieve through the experience of Time, helps in our understanding that there is an experience greater than the one we are percieving.

Or in other words,"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
And the re-phrasing,"However you may perceive reality, the Truth will always be greater than your philosophy."

I follow your thoughts here, explaining what it is that we percieve from the ego perspective as duality. I also see that there is a need to help bring awareness into our relatioinship with God or All or Self, etc.
I am beginning a Blog on the process of awakeing to our identity of Greater Self, which I refer to as GIAMIND.
I have the tribe of the same name and soon the website as well.
This is an acronym for Global Individual Awareness (or Art for some) MIND.

I have travelled the spiritual path through many cultures, listening to the Shaman winds, and now I find that even Quantum physics and Wave theory all still hold true to the Hermetic laws.
I feel the shift is imminent.
The musings of Plato and Socrates, Krishna and Christ, Buddha and Rumi, all have a godlen thread of truth that is meant to lead us home. It is only now that we are finding the bio-feedback or GIA-feedback is meeting itself on the way back ( as evidenced through synchronicity of thought and actions.
I find that metaphors still serve best to describe what words cannot contain.
Experience alone will silent all confusion.
I have struggled with this for many years now.... to find a way to share the experience of "other-that-is-greater-Self". To this end, I have come up with music, ritual, movement, method, meditation, and now finally a team sport to engender a whole new way of being.

"As above so below, as within so without."
The microcosm is a reflection of the macrocosm.
Our experience of solid is now known to be illusion. All is a wave of thought in the mind of God and our awakening into this Self takes only a moment.

Aaah, but how long to get to that moment?
I have summed up the path as such:
"Understand oneness, and you will master life.
Experience the one, and all questions are answered.
Live as one and you will attain the highest goal, ...Being!"

If you doubt, let it be. If you cannot imagine how, let it be.
If you feel the odds are against us and the time is lost, have no fear.
Let it be, and remember the Rose.
Remember the seed.
REmember, that although we may have arisen from the sea of compassion, out of the lotus of enlightenment, it is hard sometimes to imagine that the vine of thorns our world has become, will ever blossom into a flower.
But just as the ancient hermetic laws have held true, so too will our destiny.
I believe the blossoming begins in 2012.

Flags n trophies

For banners, I'd like to incorporate the players roles, which are
called Dragons and Knights, I was thinking of something gothic, ACS or
Medieval style. I like the ambiance of tall long forked banners with
colors that reflect the fire.   A shorter triangular flag with a
fireball in the center for each team.
I would like to include the Law of Time Time people and have each team
bring a flag with the law of time symbol of three seperate and adjacent
circles in a triangle formation within another ring of fire. Each
circle represents whatever the teams want to have in them, but in the
official international flag, the circles represent: Spirituality,
Science, and Art. Basically the teams can put whatever they want in the
three rings. As long as the overall flag is symbolized by a background
with a big fireball in the center the rest is up to them.
    A standard size 3' x 5' flag or 3' x 7' tapered flag with a
single big fire ball in the center would be a great starting point for
each team.    For the official High Council banner I would like a black
background with a red ring of fire. Within the fire ring are three
seperate spheres representing each teams totem, mascot, symbol, or
whatever they want to put in them.   I would like to make a patch or
sticker the size of one of the inner circles to offer each
participating team.   Their flag would also then become a visual record
of each teams participation.
     I haven't measured the circles yet, but I have a picture of the
international flag on my tribe photo file. (its white with red rings)
I have provided a discription of the equipment, uniform, and a trophy
each team should make.    In this game every team wins a trophy! I
suggest that each team that seeks to participate bring their own flag,
colours, and trophy. This brings a certain level of commitment.
   The trophies are exchanged between playing teams, and I also request
that each team leave a space about 3" x 5", for a plaque that we
provide. Top Three Grand Champions will get a differnt plaque and
everyone will get a different trophy!
Oh and the whistle is necessary for tournament play, but a conch is
always welcome for ceremony.
